The first Heaton's micro-festival took place
on 20th September. Attended by 550 local revelers, whose spirits failed to be
dampened by the customary festival rain, enjoyed live music from a host of local
bands including, Palo Alto (pictured) Rocco Player, Crazy Penis and Habanero.
The event organised by local musicians and promoters, Jamie Crowley, Mike Hosler
and Russell Crank - took place at the Heatons Rugby Club ground on Green Lane.
The event was split between the main stage in a large marquee, and the club house.
This was the first 'live music' event to be held in the Heatons but judging
by the support it won't be the last. Andy Hunter interviewed the organisers on
Friday 3rd October to see just what they have in store for the remainder of 2003
and finds out what plans are being made to bring Moor Fest back in 2004.
We would also like to ask for your support to ensure this event returns, as
well as providing some info on the bands and sponsors.
We would also like to ask for any feedback or comment on the event by those
who attended. If you are a local band please get in touch with Proud2belocal -
The Heatons via the web site. We will be happy to advertise gigs in the 'What's
on' section, promote any CD releases etc.
Thanks to Pickled Music for mentioning The Heatons web site on Moor Fest flyers
and posters.
